Logsmith offers handcrafted timber frame structures, as well as structural and artistic timber components.

Precise joinery is very important to us, due to its key role in the strength of the structure. Every piece of each project is individually designed for the strength of the joint, and is also carefully proportioned so that the whole frame is aesthetically pleasing.

The various species of wood that are used in our projects are carefully selected by grade and appearance. The best species is chosen to meet the needs of each individual project. For example, Ontario White Pine is easy to dry and work with, while British Columbia Douglas Fir offers strength and a beautiful, rich red colour. Red Cedar, from the west coast, is used for exterior applications due to its natural resistance to weather.
